Cundletown Markets Show 'N Shine
Edwards St., Cundletown
27th November, 2022
A really impressive number of cars turned up for the Cundletown Markets display, run in perfect weather.
David Hayes' 1929 Buick Roadster attracted plenty of admiring glances, as did Phil Constable's 1928 Chev Ute on its first ever outing. The resto may have taken Phil many years to complete, but the finished product is a real head-turner.
HARS had about ten entrants. Dave Spokes (Austin A40), John & Dellis (HR Holden), Howard & Lyn (EH Holden), Terry Hill (1968 Bellett), Bruce & Pat (Singer Gazelle), Alby Angello (Ferrari), Col Shaw (Morris 1000), Len Colbert (1929 Walter Paige), Gary Hollis (1951 Riley)

November Mid-Week Lunch
Kew Country Club
Our Mid-Week lunch for November 2022 was held at the Kew Country Club on the 16th November. Before lunch, Ron Morris organised a visit to the Kew Rural Fire Station next door to the Country Club for those members who wished to have a look around. Thank you Ron. John Toohey even arrived in his historic Bedford fire engine, to set the mood!!
Unfortunately, even though this lunch was organised, booked in plenty of time and confirmed with the Manager two days before the event, SOMEHOW the kitchen didn’t know we were coming with the result being that very little food was available!! Everyone was fed eventually although choice was VERY limited. After the event conversations were held with the Manager and also the Head Chef of the Laurieton United Services Club who now own Kew Country Club to voice our dissatisfaction. In light of their apology for the fiasco, we have been given two $50 meal vouchers for the Bistro at LUSC. It has been decided to put the names of the 26 people who attended the Mid Week Lunch this month in a hat and draw out two lucky names who each will be given a Meal Voucher. This will be done at the Get Together on the 4th December at Dunbogan. Although this Mid Week Lunch was a bit of a disappointment, we are sure the next one will more than make up for it.
If you haven’t come along to a Mid-Week lunch before, or haven’t been able to join us for a while, let me encourage you to come and join us for the last lunch this year to be held at the Bonny Hills Beach Hotel, meeting there at 12 noon. It is helpful, for seating purposes, if you can let Lois know you are coming, but this is not an absolute necessity. Lois Hogan can be contacted on 0405 192 490.
KEW COUNTRY CLUB ATTENDEES:
Garry & Lois Hogan (HR Holden), Eric & Trish Lewis (Modern), Amanda & Brett Wilson (Modern), Bruce Wilson & Pat Stallebrass (Singer Gazelle), Fran & Bernie McMahon (1946 Ford), Peter Denham (1928 Chev Roadster), Walter Higgins (Modern), Greg & Marg Knaggs (Modern), Louise & Brian Murphy (Modern), Colleen Sydenham & John Toohey (Bedford Fire Engine),Jenny Piper & John Curtis (Inter Truck), Wayne Harper (1950 Holden Ute), Barry & Judy Burton (1953 Chev), Ron & Thea Morris (Modern), Gary Hollis (Modern) More Pics HERE

Registration Day
6th November 2022
Dave Spokes Garage
Ocean Drive, North Haven
Well, it was just like old times.
Cars were rolling in right from 8 o'clock right through to noon to be checked over by rego officers Graham Branch, Spokesy and Bruce Wilson to make sure they were up to scratch.
Meanwhile the ladies formed a gossip circle of chairs between the car hoists and had a lovely time.
Chris Whalley donned the BBQ apron and kept the free snags going. Peter Denham and Steve Stewart handled the rego forms and cash while the other thirty or forty blokes spent the morning perusing the wide range of cars as they came and went.
Passing members of the public were soon drawn to the impressive display of vehicles outside, so everyone enjoyed the day. Pics HERE
Note: ( After this day, if membership fees have not been paid, you are unfinancial and not permitted to drive any of your historic vehicles as they are technically unregistered.)

Wednesday
2nd November
Lion's Den
Port Macquarie
Our AGM meeting turned out to be a difficult one for our club. Several of our key members had announced that they were retiring and would not be standing for re-election. Some of these top positions proved hard to lock down on the night.
President Chris agreed to continue on as caretaker President to give possible candidates time to confirm if they could in fact see there way clear to serve for the coming twelve months.
The meeting voted in favour of this course of action and to refer matters to the next committe meeting to sort things out. Your Committee held a meeting on Wednesday, 16th November. Pleasingly, several members have stepped forward.
They committees recommendations will be put for ratification at the next General Meeting on December 7th, where all Club Positions for 2023 should be finalised.
So we urge members to attend that meeting and have their say. It's outcome is important.

Friday Coffee Run
28th October
The first in a trial series of casual outings suggested by John Gunn.
Designed as an informal and simple reason to go for a run in your old car and meet up with like-minded members who just like a drive.
The first outing was a run down to Mooreland Cafe, with thirteen members enjoying a morning out in the cafe's garden setting.
Everyone who was there declared the idea a success and were looking forward to their next Coffee Run.

Great Eastland HUB Rally
21st to 24th October, 2022
Taree
Originally set down for October 15th - 17th,the rally was postponed until the 21st to 24th.
After Registrations and morning tea on Saturday at the Big Oyster, the field of 57 cars set out to view Chris Page's motorcycle and car collection on Oxley Island.
This was followed up by a tour of the Nabiac National Motorbike Museum.
Sunday's event was a Show & Shine at Mid-Coast Council carpark, then on to Krambach for lunch. Home via Tuncurry to view an outstanding, predominately British car collection, including a beautifully restored MGA.
The Rally concluded with a Presentation Dinner at Club Taree that evening, where HARS entrants did quite nicely. David Hayes and Garry Hogan won their sections with Bruce taking runner up in his Black Hillman.
Next year's Rally will take place in Tamworth.
HISTORY (From the Taree Historic Motor Club Facebook page)
"The inaugural rally was hosted by Taree Historic Motor Club on the October long weekend in 1972.
Clubs attending were Taree, Tamworth & Coffs Harbour. The rally was at that stage a bi-annual event based in Taree up until 1978 when the Hub was formed.
The rally then became The Great Eastland Rally when it was hosted by Tamworth in 1980 & sponsored by Great Eastland Television which was based in Tamworth. Hub Rally hosting clubs include Coffs Harbour Veteran & Vintage Car Club, Hastings Auto Restorers Society Inc. Tamworth & District Antique Motor Club, Great Lakes Historic Automobile Club & The Classic and Specialist Car Club of Northern NSW (Armidale) all of which host the rally on a rotation system each year."
HARS hosted a very successful Rally in 2018. (More photos and details to follow)

Knorrit Flat Campout
Caffrey's Flat
14th - 17th October, 2022
Situated right beside the Nowendoc river, this rustic camp ground proved ideal for our group. It features very large sites each with it's own firepit.
A dozen of our members made the journey under cloudy skies but managed to get the weekend in without too much inconvenience.

Port Macquarie Swap Meet
Sunday September 18th 2022 at Port Macquarie Racecourse.
Well we finally got our Swap Meet up and running again after two years of COVID cancellations.
Sunday was a perfect Spring day and the crowds and stall holders all came out in force, with plenty of bargains being snapped up.
The move to a September date seems to have been well received.
Despite the enforced layoff over the last three years of COVID, President Chris was able to completely book out all sites. Treasurer Steve reported to the following Committee Meeting that combined income from sites and gate takings was right up there with our 2019 event which was very pleasing.

Winter Wooly Weekend
Dorrigo Heritage Hotel
19th-21st August, 2022
After meeting up for morning tea at Telegraph Point. 16 hearty souls set out for the trip up Waterfall Way for the Winter Wooly Weekend at Dorrigo Heritage Hotel and what a great time they all had.
Clear skies and crisp clear air showed the counryside off to perfection.
It was back down the mountain on Saturday for a visit to Bellingen and their huge market. The showground was packed with stalls as usual and the town was buzzing with visitors. After lunch it was back up to Dorrigo RSL for a Chinese meal then round one of Daph's Trivia.
On Sunday, a day trip took us to Rod and Ruth Holmes' property overlooking Dangar Falls. Rod and brother Keith treated everyone to a spin in their 1908 and 1910 Albion's while Ruth put on a fine morning tea. Warm, country hospitality. Keith, who is in his nineties, has owned the Albion truck since he found it in a paddock when he was 14.
Spokesy then took us out to Ebor and along a dirt road to Point Lookout, that he had described as "Not a bad bit of dirt". The view from the new lookout was stunning... the depth and number of potholes to get there was also stunning.. After lunch at the Ebor Cafe, everyone arrived back very dusty but in one piece.
Round two of Daph's trivia made for plenty of laughs when she ruled that all the ladies had to choose a new male partner to even out the odds of winning. Spoksey's thank you gift to her of a large chokoe (which she hates) was sweet revenge for some of her obscure rulings that he did not agree with. More Pics can be found HERE

Club Run to Mid North
Coast Fire Museum
Sunday 7th August, 2022
The trip to Settlement Point proved very interesting for our members. Thirteen cars turned up and away we went in some sunny weather for a change. Out through Bushland Drive and across through Sancrox, then on to the large shed that houses the North Coast Fire Museum.
The Museum houses a host of artifacts and memorabilia that traces the history of the fire service in our area, and features a 1935 Dennis Ace Fire Engine and pump trailer.
John Toohey drove his pump truck across so he was right in his element.
After morning tea, we headed out to Ricardos Tomatoes for an enjoyable lunch to complete the day.

Club Run to Ellenborough
Sunday 5th June, 2022
Calling at Historic Kindee Bridge
Sixteen cars made the journey to Ellenborough reserve, after first meeting at the regular spot, Billabong zoo. We were fortunate indeed with the weather, considering how challenging it has been recently. It was quite pleasant at the reserve where we enjoyed almost clear skies and sunshine.
We spent the morning catching up with fellow members and enjoying our morning tea before leaving at around 11.30. to head back along the track to Long Flat for lunch.
A small number of cars took the short deviation to have a look at the Kindee bridge, which, by the way, looks to have some minor damage to it’s lower structure, no doubt from recent floods. Evidently not structural.
A very pleasant lunch at Long Flat pub. The Pub suffering, as many establishments from lack of staff. A little patients was required but well worth the wait. Any way what does it matter if you are among friends.
Naming and shaming those who made the journey to Ellenborough...
Chris Whalley, modern. Laurie and Marcia Mcgrath, Holden. Bernie and Fran Mcmahan modern. David Spokes, 1948 Pontiac. Howard and Lyn Hurlstone, EH Holden. Bernadette and Gary Henderson, 64 Mustang. John and Dellis Gunn, H R Holden. David and Margaret Hayes, 1959 Dodge. David Knowle, 2009 Mercedes. Steve and Virginia Stewart, 1993 Celica. Denis Dick, 1971 MGB. Brett and Amanda Wilson,1960 Hillman Minx. Bruce Wilson and Patricia Stallebrass, 1958 Singer. Jim Dalton with visitor Ken, 1965 Austin. Janet and Terry Hill, 1966 Bellett. Dennis Marks Karyn Shreev, 1985 mercedes 190E.
Conspicuous by their absence, were any new members. To the new members, these are great days with absolutely no pressure, simply turn up on the day armed with a thermos and any goody you may prefer for morning tea and be prepared to take it easy for an hour or so with any amounts of good company. It is a good opportunity to get that old car, or modern, and take it for a run. More pics HERE (Thanks to John Gunn for photos and story)

Great Lakes Historic Auto Club Motorfest Sunday June 12, 2022 John Wright Park Tuncurry. June 12th was the day for the Great Lakes Nissan Motorfest.. Beautiful day by the water in Tuncurry. A great roll of 260 cars included an interesting mix of makes and models. Many valuable cars were displayed but my pick, not the judges, was a beautifully restored Morris Oxford utility. The Gunn’s were the lonely entry from H.A.R.S driving their H.R. Holden. Peter Denham and Alby Agnello also made the journey to witness the excellent display. Gary Hollis turnd up but couldn't find the other guys in the crowd. (Thanks to John Gunn for photos and story) The Gt Lakes Advocate has lots of photos HERE |

Anzac Day
25th April, 2022
Port Macquarie and Laurieton
Morning showers cleared and Anzac Day 2022 turned on a beautiful day for the remebrance services in Port Macquarie and Laurieton. The crowds were well up on previous years.
Our members helped out by offering a ride to some of the less mobile vets so they could participate in the march and then the remembrance services.

Picnic Run to Nabiac
Sunday, 10th April, 2022.
Only a small group made the 70km Club Run to Nabiac, with several of our regulars at the Walcha Swap Meet.
On a perfect, sunny day at Croki for morning tea, Stewart Armstrong had arranged for us to inspect one of the local's outstanding collection of classic cars. From the quirky Nash Metropolitan to very original MG hardtop, he has an enviable collection.
Then it was on to Nabiac and a visit to the National Motorcycle Museum, where there are over one thousand bikes on display from all eras, as well as 24 vintage and classic cars, all in excellent condition.

Camp-out at Big 4 Sawtell Beach
4th - 7th February, 2022.
Our camp-out to Sawtell Beach Holiday Park defied the weather forecast and all planned events went ahead, pretty well unhindered. And what a good turn out we had with 23 members making the trip.
On Friday after tea, Daphne got us warmed up in the camp kitchen, with her own, sometimes dubious, brand of Trivia, where the judge's (ie. Daphne's) decision is final. (Spokesy has worked out that dissent is futile and only costs you chocolates.
After a heavy overnight downpour, it all cleared away for our trip up to Sealy Lookout for Saturday's morning tea. Standing on the Forest Sky Pier, we had a spectacular view, right up and down the coast before heading back down the hill to the North Coast Botanic Gardens. They are smack bang in the middle Coffs, with 50 acres of sub-tropical forest fitting into a bend in Coffs Creek. There's lots of nicely laid out walkways and well marked species of trees and plants from all over the world. The volunteer staff made us welcome and we had our BYO lunch there.
On Sunday we had an early start. A few decided on a drive up to Bellingen and the rest drove to "The Bunker" in Coffs, a leftover from WWII that is now home to the Australian Cartoon Museum. We were lucky enough to catch the last few days of a travelling exhibition - "100 Years of Ginger Meggs", displaying cartoons from the 1920's through to today's. The second area featured some irreverent depictions of Australian sporting & political legends.
Then it was down the old Pacific Highway to Urunga's Park for lunch and a wander around. Stewart Armstrong snapped a street mural which surely features a long lost relative of John Toohey... same shirt, same hat, same shape.
We finished the weekend at the camp kitchen where we revived a true-blue competition... "How long can you rip a Minties wrapper in one piece?"
Christmas in July in December
Beechwood Pub
Sunday, 5th December, 2021.
Our long delayed "Christmas in July" finally eventuated as a "Christmas in December," which doesn't sound quite right, but anyway it was a great success.
We filled the Beechwood Pub's function room to it's allowable capacity of 50 and settled in for festivities and some serious gossip.
After an excellent meal, Daphne tried us out with some Christmas trivia. That went off well and she was asked for another round. But this time the smarties missed out because the lowest marker was awarded the prize.
President Chris filled us in on upcoming events, especially the change from our traditional January meeting at McInherney Park. This year will be replaced by a breakfast at Dunbogan Reserve.
It was great to be able to get out and renew friendships amongst members. Here's hoping we can put lockdowns behind us and get back to some serious motoring and fellowship in 2022.

Picnic Run to Comboyne
Sunday,14th November
2021.
A Sunday's Picnic Run to Yippin Creek and then up the mountain to Comboyne and the hinterland was well attended. Members took in the beautiful high country of Comboyne and the Spring countryside looking at its best for years after plenty of rain and perfect growing conditions.
We had morning tea at Yippen Creek Reserve. It's a great place for our outings, with plenty of covered BBQ tables and good amenities. (We'll keep it in mind for future outings).
After a drive up the sealed mountain road, Comboyne was much less welcoming. It was blowing a gale so the original lunch venue at Pioneer Park was abandoned for a more sheltered one downtown.
All in all a very enjoyable day and so good to be back in our old cars and amongst friends.

Registration Day
Dave Spokes Garage
Sunday, November 7th November, 2021.
Our Registration Day was a much more subdued affair again this year.
Much as we would have liked to carry on the tradition of a BBQ and get-together during inspections, it was too hard to jump through all the hoops of a workplace environment, with only limited numbers allowed.
A shame because this was great for club fellowship and catching up with old acquaintances, who you often only see once or twice a year.
Treasurer Steve set up outside to collect fees and several took the opportunity to have a chat without the need to wear a mask outdoors. If all goes well next year, we should be able to go back to the traditional Rego Day that club members enjoyed so much.

Campout
Lakeside Resort,Forster
October 22nd to 25th, 2021.
Six vans made the trip down to Forster for our October Campout. Happy Campers were Terry & Dale Bell, John & Dellis Gunn, Ron & Thea Morris, Dave Spokes, President Chris, Mike and Colleen Chard and Daph & Col Shaw.
Quizz Chief, Daphne ran her trivia night in the well appointed camp kitchen and found us scratching our heads, rummaging around in what's left of our memory banks..... all for a handful of chocolates.
For Saturday's outing, former resident of Gloucester, Gunny was appointed tour leader for a drive around the area. First stop was the Drifta Camping Store. Drifta is a local producer of camping trailers and kitchens, as well as a range of canvas and 4WD knick-knacks. Plenty to look at.
Then it was on to Stroud and up Silo Hill for a view over the town. Eight underground silos were built there by convicts in 1841 to store grain. The are also two 60 pound cannons there, dating back to the Crimean War.
On the way back to camp we viewed the tower of the tallest private home in Australia ... the Grey family's 10 storey Girvan Estate. (Definitely one way to get a full 360 view across the countryside!)
Sunday was a please-yourself day. Members could hit the shops or just laze around their campsites and make the most of the sunshine, free of restrictions.
Like most campouts... a very enjoyable break.

Picnic Run
Settlement Point & John Downes Park
Port Macquarie
8th August, 2021.
COVID limits on visitors put a stop to our planned Soup Run at Luceys home, but it was replaced by a Picnic Run around Port . The forecast showers held off and a good turnout of cars and members took the opportunity to enjoy some fresh air, sunshine and a get together.
Morning tea at Settlement Point Park was followed up with a run around the coast to John Downes Park for a BYO lunch. More HERE

Day Run to Ellenborough Reserve
6th June, 2021
The day was perfect for our run to Ellenborough and 17 of our members made the most of the winter sunshine. The reserve itself looked a treat.
It was good to see Brett Wilson able to take his newly acquired Hillman Minx out for a whirl. The car itself is immaculate, with all original paintwork and interior. He bought it from Taree and only shows 31,000 miles on the clock.
The day was so nice, some stayed on for a picnic lunch while the other half headed for the Long Flat Pub and spoiled themselves with some excellent pub food and the odd beer.

ANZAC Day
Laurieton
25th April,2021
On a beautiful autumn day, a good crowd turned out for the march down Bold St in Laurieton.
Our members brought along ten cars to transport veterans from the LUSC to the ceremony in Anzac Park, and then back up to the LUSC for the traditional get together with old mates. Those vets who took up the offer were very appreciative and thanked our drivers for their help.

CHMC Annual Rally
Temora
8th -12th April,2021
A total of nine vehicles from our club made the 850km trip to Temora for their running of the Council of Heritage Motor Clubs NSW Rally (Usually shortened to Bush Council Rally) – one only just making the start after a nightmare oil leak.
Around Goulburn, on the day before the rally was to start, David Hayes lifted the bonnet to find everything covered in oil from a broken pipe holding the oil filter. To get it off he had to remove a series of other pipes, so he soon was as oily as the engine. By good luck he found a mechanic who could weld up the pipe. He then went through the arduous task of refitting all the bits only to find another crack. Welded that, refitted everything and then found more leaks, so had to abandon the repair and fit a very expensive set of custom made flexible hydraulic hoses as a temporary measure to get to the start line in Temora.
(David's persistence paid off. He went on to win the prize for "Best Post Vintage 1931-1949 Vehicle")
The rally itself was a resounding success and a credit to the Temora Club for all their work organising the event and even cooking all their own food for each day’s events at the Greyhound Club pavilion.
Entrants did a run to Ariah Park on the Saturday and filled the small town’s main street, drawing a large crowd of locals to admire the impressive display.
On Sunday it was off to nearby Centenary Lake, a perfect location for the Show & Shine and judging. At the presentation Dinner that night, eleven perpetual trophies were handed out for the various class winners. CHMC President, Ray Ives heaped praise on the Temora workers for managing such a great event. particularly with the complication of COVID.
On the way home there was another major breakdown, this time it was Brett Wilson’s Volvo that decided to spit oil over itself. A front oil seal stopped sealing. The car is now having a holiday in Orange while a mechanic rights the problem.
These were the members who made the journey:
Brett & Amanda Wilson – 1985 Volvo 240GL Sedan
Bruce Wilson - 1957 MG Magnette Sedan
David & Margaret Hayes – 1936 Packard Sedan
John & Dellis Gunn – 1966 HR Holden Sedan
Dave Spokes & Chris Whalley – 1962 EK Holden Station Wagon
Terry & Janet Hill – 1968 Isuzu Bellett PR20 Sedan
Garry & Lois Hogan – 1966 Holden HR Station Wagon
Bernie & Fran McMahon – Modern
Col & Daphne Shaw – 1963 EH Holden Sedan
The Newcastle & District Veteran & Classic Car Club invited our members to join them on an extended run home via Tumut, Narooma and Shoalhaven. The Gunns and Shaws were able to join in and had a most enjoyable six days with the Newcastle crew.

SPOKESY'S MYSTERY OBSERVATION RALLY
Somewhere in the Hastings Area
7th March, 2021
There was quite a line-up of drivers and spotters for the observation run, all making the most of the sunny weather. Dave and helper John Gunn drew up an interesting circular run, taking in Telegraph Point reserve, then down Pembroke Rd and back around to finish at the pretty facilities of Sancrox Reserve. With plenty of heated discussions between Spotters and Drivers as to a suitable speed to find all of the clues along the way, it was easy to see why these events are sometimes known as Divorce Rallies.
After lunch at Sancrox, observation sheets were scrutinized and scores tallied. A severe penalty system for querying the judge's ruling soon quietened down any unruly spotters.
A great day out for all. More pics HERE

CAMP-OUT at NAMBUCCA BEACH
Swimming Creek, Nambucca
5th to 7th February, 2021
Eighteen members made it to the Camp Out at Nambucca and what a little gem of a park the Big 4 turned out to be. Accessed via a dead end road meant no traffic noise, only the soft thud of the surf over the nearby dunes, which shielded us from the sea breeze. Very tropical and perfect for our needs.
A day run to the Pub With No Beer at Taylor's Arm, visits to the Frank Partridge Military Museum at Bowraville and a night out at Nambucca RSL Club kept everyone entertained.
Daph and Kerry proved to be no nonsense Trivia judges with the usual controversial rulings (who ever heard of Boomer being a male kangaroo except on Christmas cards?) True to form, no correspondence was entered into. It hardly mattered as first prize of three chocolate bars was trumped by a huge container of Rocky Road that Margaret Hayes had made and handed out FREE. A young, holidaying Mexican couple joined us and gave a very credible score. They even helped with the chocolate eating! More Pics HERE

Pre-AUSTRALIA DAY RUN
Croki and Old Bar Beach Reserve
Sunday, January 20th,2021
How enjoyable was it to finally get out on the road again in our old cars?
This was the line-up as we left the Kew Info Centre on Sunday...
The Gunn's 67 HR, Spokesy's 48 Pontiac, Hendo's 64 Mustang, Hayes's 59 Dodge, Bruce's Californian, Shaw's EH, the Knowles clan's 59 DeSoto, Gill's Galant, Hilly's 81 Skyline, John & Colleen Toohey's Rolls, Dennis Dick's 71 MG B, Royce Jago's 55 FJ,Ian Newman and Peter Denham (modern) . Fifteen in all, not a bad roll up as we get back into the swing of things. Unfortunately President Chris broke down before the start... his car was OK but his stomach wasn't.
Morning tea at Croki riverside reserve was perfect. Plenty of shade and room to chat under the huge trees. Derek Anderson wandered in to say hello, minus MG B, which spat the dummy on the morning of the run with alternator trouble. Also Bruce & Kerrie Randall from Harrington joined us in their HD Holden.
We could have spent the afternoon there by the river but relented and pushed on to Old Bar, where Garry Hollis joined us in his 51 Riley.
Events Director Spokesy decided to move us out to nearby Wallabi Point to avoid the crowds at Old Bar Beach... but that didn't work. A hundred other picnicers had the same thought so we were forced to set up camp at a rather windy perch overlooking the beach... very pretty but very breezy. We gave that away after lunch and adjourned for short run to Manning Point for icecreams and Paddle Pops, followed by afternoon tea on Dave's nice cool verandah at John's River.
A really good day out enjoyed by all who made it along. Photos of the day are HERE

FISH 'n CHIP RUN
Rocks Ferry to Laurieton
Sunday, December 20th, 2020
This was Rocks Ferry Reserve a week or so after our Fish and Chip Run. Fortunately it wasn't this wet, just soggy but wet enough to frighten most of our members away. Eight hardy souls turned up for a cuppa and gossip there, before heading back to Laurieton for Fish and Chips.
John and Dellis Gunn kindly offered their back verandah as a refuge from the threatening storms.
Fourteen members ended up there and all enjoyed the chance to renew friendships after such a disjointed year and everybody could catch up on the latest gossip.

REGISTRATION DAY
Dave Spokes Garage
Sunday, November 8th, 2020
Rego Day was a much quieter affair this year with no cuppas and cake and no standing around and catching up with car club friends we haven't seen for months. No ladies gossiping in one corner and men gossiping in another or looking over the inspector's shoulder at vehicles that are sometimes only seen at this annual outing.
Just another bit of fun that the virus has taken from us, despite the fact that we haven't had a case of COVID on the Mid-North Coast since April 26th. Nevertheless, it was good to see the old cars out on the road and to say hello to those around us at the time.
Acting treasurer Steve seems to have fitted easily into his new role, smiling happily as he took our money. And Yogi was there to hand over the registrar reins to Peter Denham. (Thanks again Yogi for all you've done for the club over so many years). Spokesy and Bruce Wilson got down and dirty as they jacked up dozens of cars and wobbled a few wheels to make sure they are roadworthy.
Hopefully next year we can get Rego Day back to what it has always been... a day for all members to meet up, share a few stories and give our old chargers another twelve months of club road trips.

DAY TRIP TO WAUCHOPE
Tour of Rocket Turnbull
and David Hayes Workshops
Sunday, March 8th, 2020
After a delicious morning tea savoring Alice Turnbull's pumpkin scones, we checked out all the cars and memorabilia that Rocket has collected over the years. It is like a small corner of a car museum, with plenty to catch your attention from historic oil bottles to motorbike sidecars.
Then it was on to David and Margaret Hayes' house for a sausage sizzle. David then showed us how he is progressing with his restoration of a 1929 Buick 44 roadster. As usual with David's handwork, it was meticulously done. The chassis complete and glistening with a new coat of paint.
Thanks to Events Co-ordinator Laurie McGrath for organising a most interesting day out and to the Turnbulls and Hayes for their hospitality.

URUNGA CAMPOUT
Reflections Tourist Park
Urunga
7th February, 2020
The Urunga Camp-Out was a wet and soggy affair but luckily most of the rain was at night.
Despite warnings of heavy rain, Friday was fine and allowed everyone to set up camp.
A enjoyable run up Dorrigo Mountain to Dangar Falls was capped by a superb morning tea put on by Rod and Ruth Holmes. Their glassed in verandah gives a panoramic view of the valley and falls but alas, showed only a valley full of clouds. The big treat was yet to come though, when Rod took us up to his workshop where he has a 1908 A3 chain drive Albion truck and an immaculate 1913 Albion tourer. He took everybody for a ride up the road and back as it chugged along on those two big pistons. In the corner of the shed a Mini Minor looked rather tiny compared to the Albions.
We then were taken to his neighbour's woodworking shed nearby. He is making up new framing for a T model Ford that Rod is restoring. Quite a challenge. The old frame he is using as a template consisted of a pile of rotted and broken bits on the workshop floor.
Back to the camp for pub for tea, then a day of sight-seeing around Coffs Harbour.
All in all a very enjoyable campout weekend. Photos of the weekend are HERE

CUNDLETOWN MOTOR SHOW
Market Square
Cundletown
Sunday SEPT 8th, 2019
The day was well attended by our members but the winds made for a chilly welcome.
John and Sandy Waters went along and estimated there were maybe 20% more cars on display compared to last year's inaugural event. John sent some excellent photos in which shows the variety on show.

Wauchope Showground
Sat/Sunday JULY 13-14th, 2019
This year's show had an outstanding display of trucks, tractors and machinery on show. .
Mac trucks were the feature for the 2019 event and even had an old chain drive model on display.
One of the smaller units (left) was still capable of carrying a full sized truckie and wife around the ring effortlessly.

WINTER WOOLY RUN TO DUNGOG
Friday 21st to Monday 24th JUNE, 2019
Events Director Dave Spokes chose Dungog's historic Bank Hotel as our spot to snuggle down on our Winter Wooly Run.
The old pub was a step back in time but made for a really different experience. We were the only guests and took over the top floor. With only eight chairs for a do-it-yourself breakfast and one table it was a case of first-in best dressed, then get out of the way for the next hungry person.
The lounge downstairs with it's fire running flat out on a generous supply of old dry hardwood made an excellent spot for our meals.
Pictures of the event will be up shortly.

The morning at Wavebowl went off well. Most of those who turned up had bowled at sometime in their life, though this was not always evident.
There was much laughter and a few dark horses who scored more than their share of strikes.
As usual there was plenty of food on hand thanks to Dellis and Daph and prizes of chocolates for winners and bush lemons for the dud deliveries. A run via one of Chris's country shortcuts and a generous lunch at Wauchope Country Club rounded out the day

DAY TRIP to CATTAI WETLANDS
Sunday, 7th APRIL,2019
The Cattai Wetlands has been described as "The Hidden Gem" of the Manning Valley.
Once farmland degraded by acid-sulphate soil, it was purchased by council in 2003. After major remediation works it is now recognised as an international bird-watching site and provides sanctuary to over 180 different species of birds, kangaroos, wallabies and goannas. (And 450 billion mosquitoes so bring your aero-guard)
Three walking tracks are available including a 2km stroll around the wetlands, a ramble through coastal blackbutt forest and a short hike to the look out on Spring Hill, where you can see as far south as Cape Hawke and Crowdy Head to the east.

DAY TRIP to HAT HEAD
Sunday, 10th March,2019
It was a beautiful day for the Sunday run to through Crescent Head to Hat Head and a large roll up of our members enjoyed the day.
We explored the Left Bank Rd on our way through to Gladstone. Nice scenery but more plenty of potholes and patches. Considering the dry weather we were surprised at the lushness and height of the grass on river-flat country. (Happy cows).
Lunch in the covered camp kitchen at Hat Head reserve gave everyone a chance to catch up on the latest gossip.
